Becoming An SMP Artist with The Scalp Micropigmentation Center (SMC)

The SMC family welcomes the opportunity to teach, train and nurture perspective future SMP Artists that want to make a difference in the lives of millions of Men and Women around the world that are concerned with hair loss.  Scalp Micropigmentation is the future of the hair loss industry, and works well with other modalities such as hair transplants, PRP, Low Level Lasers, Hair Growth Serums, Powders and Fibers, and other medical and non-medical related treatments.

To be able to complete a Scalp Micropigmentation treatment, Scalp Micropigmentation Hair Density Treatment and Scalp Micropigmentation Scar Camouflage treatment, all SMP Artists need a certain amount of time to be able to practice their skill.  This skill develops over a matter of months, not hours or days.  The Scalp Micropigmentation Center (SMC) gives all their students the theory and the tools they need in order to succeed, however, it is up to each and every SMP Artist to practice their skills on a daily basis in order to Master the skill.

Two Options are available from SMC to become an SMP Artist:

3 Days Intensive SMP Training Course

Our 3 day intensive SMP training course provides you with the knowledge, theory and practice you need to be confident in using our equipment and tools to be able to complete an SMP treatment.  This course goes through all the lessons and modules necessary to understand the basics of SMP.  Once you complete the 3 day SMP training course, you will complete the remaining modules from your home or office.  You will be in close contact with our Master SMP Artist, who will evaluate your work and pass you onto the next module, or guide you further to complete a current module.  SMP Artists only gain their Certificate of Completion as an SMP Artist by SMC when they complete all their modules successfully.  It usually takes 4-8 weeks to complete the modules, depending on the students experience and availability.

Lessons

There are a number of lessons that the student will go through in the course in order to understand the basics of SMP, including: Skin Anatomy, Hair Loss and Hair Loss Treatments, Scalp Micropigmentation, Color Theory, etc.  At the end of each lesson there is a quiz that the student must pass in order to move onto the next lesson.  Once all the lessons are complete and they have passed all the quizzes, the student is able to move onto our module portion of the program.

Modules

There are a variety of modules that the student must practice and pass in order to obtain their SMP Artist Certificate.  Modules include practicing everything from assembling your SMP Machine to practicing depth and density on paper, fake skin, mannequins, etc.  We also include Headline stencils which allow you to practice hair line build outs, and more.  Some students complete the modules within weeks, and others take a little longer.  It is not about how fast you complete the program that makes you successful, it is about how well you complete the program that will make you a star.  The more practice you get, the better the treatment you can provide to your client.
